Data Archiving & Sharing

Promoting transparency and reproducibility in plant science.

Open Data, Open Science

JAPB recognizes that research data underlying published findings are as valuable as the publications themselves. We require authors to share data openly, enabling reproducibility and accelerating plant science discovery.

Data Availability Policy
Mandatory

Sequence Data

  • GenBank/ENA/DDBJ for nucleotide sequences
  • Accession numbers required before publication
  • Release upon article publication
  • Complete metadata submission
  • No private sequence withholding
Encouraged

Supporting Data

  • Raw images and measurements
  • Statistical analysis scripts
  • Phenotyping datasets
  • Dryad, Zenodo, or Figshare
  • DOI assignment for citation
Plant-Specific Resources

Germplasm

Deposit seed stocks in recognized germplasm banks (ABRC, NASC, USDA-GRIN) and provide accession numbers for reproducibility.

Herbarium Specimens

Voucher specimens for taxonomic or field studies should be deposited in recognized herbaria with collection information provided.

Plasmids & Constructs

Deposit molecular constructs in Addgene or similar repositories. Provide plasmid maps and sequence verification.

Code & Pipelines

Analysis code should be deposited in GitHub/GitLab with DOI via Zenodo. Include documentation and example datasets.

Nagoya Protocol Compliance: For research involving genetic resources, authors must demonstrate compliance with access and benefit-sharing regulations, providing permit numbers and material transfer agreement documentation.
