Journal of Human Health Research publishes rigorous, interdisciplinary research advancing understanding of human health across biological, clinical, behavioral, and population sciences. Scope Boundary: We do NOT consider purely veterinary research, agricultural health studies without human health implications, or theoretical modeling without empirical validation. We particularly encourage integrative studies that connect biological, behavioral, and population-level health determinants, emphasizing systems-level understanding and translational relevance.

Out of Scope: Explicit Exclusions

To maintain focus and editorial quality, we do NOT consider the following types of submissions:

  • Purely Veterinary or Animal Health Research Animal studies must have clear translational relevance to human health with explicit discussion of human implications.
  • Agricultural or Food Science Without Human Health Focus Crop science, food production, or agricultural technology studies lacking direct human health outcomes or nutritional impact assessment.
  • Unvalidated Alternative Medicine Claims Homeopathy or other complementary approaches without rigorous clinical trial evidence, appropriate controls, and peer-reviewed validation.
  • Theoretical Models Without Empirical Validation Mathematical or computational models lacking real-world data validation, clinical application, or experimental verification.
  • Purely Descriptive Case Reports Single case reports without novel diagnostic or therapeutic insights, systematic literature review, or significant clinical teaching value.

Priority 1: Fast-Track Review

High-Impact Research

  • Original Research Articles: Novel empirical studies with rigorous methodology (4,000-8,000 words)
  • Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analyses: Comprehensive evidence synthesis following PRISMA guidelines
  • Methods & Protocols: Innovative research methodologies with broad applicability
  • Randomized Controlled Trials: Registered trials reporting primary outcomes (CONSORT compliant)
Priority 2: Standard Review

Focused Contributions

  • Short Communications: Preliminary findings or focused studies (2,000-3,000 words)
  • Data Notes: High-quality datasets with reuse potential and documentation
  • Perspectives & Commentaries: Expert analysis of emerging health issues (1,500-2,500 words)
  • Technical Reports: Detailed methodological descriptions or validation studies
Rarely Considered

Selective Acceptance

  • Case Reports: Only if demonstrating exceptional novelty or rare conditions with significant clinical teaching value
  • Opinion Pieces: Invited only, from recognized experts addressing critical health debates
  • Narrative Reviews: Considered if addressing significant knowledge gaps not covered by systematic reviews

Editorial Standards & Requirements

Reporting Guidelines

All submissions must adhere to appropriate reporting standards:
  • CONSORT for randomized controlled trials
  • STROBE for observational studies
  • PRISMA for systematic reviews
  • ARRIVE for animal research (when applicable)
  • STARD for diagnostic accuracy studies
  • CARE for case reports

Research Ethics

Mandatory requirements: IRB/ethics committee approval for human subjects research, informed consent documentation, animal welfare compliance (IACUC approval), clinical trial registration (ClinicalTrials.gov, ISRCTN, etc.), and conflict of interest disclosure for all authors.

Data Transparency

Data availability: Authors must provide data availability statements. We encourage deposition in recognized repositories (e.g., Dryad, Figshare, OSF). De-identified patient data sharing is encouraged following ICMJE recommendations. Code and analysis scripts should be made available when feasible.

Preprint Policy

Preprint-friendly: We accept submissions previously posted on preprint servers (medRxiv, bioRxiv, SSRN). Authors must disclose preprint posting and update preprint records upon publication. Preprints do not compromise novelty for JHHR consideration.
