Biomarker Discovery & Validation
Studies identifying and validating novel biomarkers for cardiovascular disease diagnosis, prognosis, or therapeutic monitoring. Must include mechanistic rationale and validation cohorts.
Methods & Protocols
Novel experimental techniques, disease models, or analytical methods for cardiovascular pathophysiology research. Must demonstrate advantages over existing approaches with validation data.
Mechanistic Reviews
Comprehensive synthesis of molecular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease pathophysiology. Must provide novel mechanistic frameworks and identify knowledge gaps for future research.
Short Communications
Preliminary findings or focused studies reporting significant mechanistic observations in cardiovascular pathophysiology. Ideal for time-sensitive discoveries requiring rapid dissemination.
Case Reports with Mechanistic Insights
Clinical cases that provide unique insights into cardiovascular disease mechanisms. Must include mechanistic discussion linking clinical observations to pathophysiological understanding.
Perspectives & Commentaries
Expert opinions on emerging concepts, controversial findings, or future directions in cardiovascular pathophysiology research. Must be evidence-based and thought-provoking.
Pre-Submission Checklist
Ensure your manuscript is submission-ready by verifying these essential components. Complete submissions receive faster editorial screening and peer review assignment.
Word (.docx) or LaTeX format, double-spaced, line numbers enabled
High-resolution figures (300 DPI minimum, TIFF/EPS preferred), editable tables
IRB/IACUC approval documentation for human or animal studies
All authors approved final manuscript, contributions clearly stated
Financial and non-financial conflicts disclosed or declared none
Explains significance, novelty, and fit with journal scope
Reporting Guidelines for Cardiovascular Research
We strongly encourage adherence to discipline-specific reporting standards: ARRIVE guidelines for animal studies, CONSORT for clinical trials, STROBE for observational studies, and PRISMA for systematic reviews. Manuscripts following these guidelines receive priority consideration.
Peer Review Timeline
Our transparent peer review process ensures rigorous evaluation by cardiovascular pathophysiology experts while maintaining efficient timelines. Track your manuscript status in real-time through ManuscriptZone.
Submission & Initial Screening
Editorial office verifies completeness, formatting compliance, and scope alignment. Plagiarism screening performed using iThenticate (similarity index must be below 30%).
3 daysEditor Assignment
Manuscript assigned to Associate Editor with expertise in your specific area of cardiovascular pathophysiology. Editor evaluates scientific merit and selects qualified peer reviewers.
3-5 daysPeer Review
Minimum two independent reviewers with cardiovascular pathophysiology expertise evaluate methodology, data quality, mechanistic insights, and significance. Reviewers provide detailed feedback and recommendations.
21 daysEditorial Decision
Editor synthesizes reviewer feedback and makes decision: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. Detailed decision letter with reviewer comments sent to corresponding author.
28 days totalRevision & Re-review
Authors submit revised manuscript with point-by-point response to reviewer comments. Revised manuscripts undergo expedited re-review focusing on addressed concerns.
14 daysAcceptance & Production
Accepted manuscripts enter production for copyediting, typesetting, and final formatting. Authors review and approve proofs before publication.
10 daysOnline Publication
Article published online with immediate Open Access availability.
60 days totalSubmission Requirements & Guidelines
Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts should be prepared according to our Author Guidelines, which provide detailed formatting instructions, reference style requirements, and figure preparation standards. Key requirements include:
- Title Page: Include manuscript title, all author names and affiliations, corresponding author contact information, and word count
- Abstract: Structured abstract (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions) of 250-300 words for research articles
- Keywords: 5-8 keywords using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terminology when possible
- Main Text: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion format for research articles. Methods must include sufficient detail for replication
- References: Vancouver style, numbered consecutively in order of appearance. Include DOIs when available
- Figures: High-resolution (300 DPI minimum), TIFF or EPS format preferred. Each figure with descriptive legend
- Tables: Editable format (Word or Excel), not embedded as images. Include descriptive titles and footnotes
Ethics & Compliance
All research involving human subjects or animals must comply with ethical standards:
- Human Studies: IRB/Ethics Committee approval required. Include approval number and informed consent statement in Methods

Article Processing Charges (APC)
Standard APC applies to cover peer review, production, and hosting costs. APC waivers are available for authors from low-income countries and in cases of financial hardship. Waiver requests are evaluated confidentially and do not affect editorial decisions. Contact our editorial office during submission to request a waiver.
Post-Submission Process
Manuscript Tracking
After submission through ManuscriptZone, you can track your manuscript status in real-time. The system provides automatic email notifications at each stage: submission confirmation, editor assignment, peer review initiation, reviewer comments received, and editorial decision. Log in anytime to view detailed status updates and reviewer feedback.
Revision Submission
If revisions are requested, you will receive detailed reviewer comments and editor recommendations. Prepare your revision by:
- Creating a point-by-point response document addressing each reviewer comment
- Highlighting changes in the revised manuscript (track changes or color coding)
- Submitting revised files through ManuscriptZone within the specified timeframe (typically 60 days for major revisions, 30 days for minor revisions)
- Including a cover letter summarizing major changes and explaining any reviewer suggestions not implemented
Final Decision Outcomes
Accept: Manuscript proceeds directly to production. You will receive proofs for final approval within 10 days.
Minor Revision: Small changes required, typically addressing formatting, clarifications, or additional references. Re-review focuses on revised sections only.
Major Revision: Substantial revisions needed, such as additional experiments, expanded discussion, or methodological improvements. Full re-review by original reviewers.
Reject: Manuscript does not meet publication standards or scope. Detailed feedback provided to guide improvements for submission elsewhere.
