Subject and clinical expertise

- Knowledge of oral implantology, periodontology, forensic dentistry or another field relevant to the journal
- Recent scholarly activity, publication experience or appropriate clinical research experience
Research and methodological expertise
- Ability to evaluate study design, methods, analysis and interpretation
- Knowledge of relevant clinical, laboratory, imaging, biomaterials or evidence-synthesis methods
- Ability to distinguish supported conclusions from unsupported claims
Reviewer responsibilities
Reviewers should accept invitations only when the manuscript falls within their expertise and they can complete the review within the deadline agreed with the editorial office.
- Assess the research question, methods, analysis, interpretation and scholarly or clinical relevance
- Provide constructive, evidence-based comments that help authors and editors
- Distinguish essential concerns from optional recommendations
- Identify significant limitations, unsupported conclusions or ethical concerns
- Submit the review within the agreed editorial timeline
- Inform the editorial office promptly if circumstances affect availability
