Biography:
- Alfonso Duenas-Gonzlez, MD, PhD, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Guadalajara Mexico, specialized in Internal Medicine at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition, Mexico and Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute of Mexico.
- He earned his Doctorate degree at the University of Salamanca, Spain and did post-doctoral studies at the Sunnybrook Health Science Centre at the University of Toronto.
- He was the head of Research at the National Cancer Institute of Mexico for several years and currently is a full time researcher at both, Institute of Biomedical Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the National Cancer Institute.
- He has pioneered Translational Research studies in Cancer Epigenetics and Drug Repositioning as well as conducted clinical trials in cervical cancer treatment.
- He is also interested in the study of the biological significance of circulating DNA and its diagnostic applications for early detection of cancer as well as in the metabolic therapy of cancer and cancer genetics.
- He has served in the editorial boards of several international scientific biomedical journals, as a reviewer of research papers and international grant agencies as well as Scientific advisor for Pharmaceutical Industry.
- He has authored more than 100 scientific articles and has edited chapters and books in the field of Medicine.
- He has lectured a number of conferences in well-known international meetings and has conducted the preclinical and clinical development of cancer drugs.
- He has trained tens of postgraduate students and he has been the recipient of several important awards such as Canifarma, Miguel Aleman and the Cathedra Pfizer-PUIS UNAM.
